Friends
of Francois New Year’s Day Dinner was well attended by many rain soaked guests
who welcomed a dry place to share dinner and exchange New Year’s
greetings.Our guests had the choice
between three different soups and were able to select what they most wished to
have in their deli sandwich.Honora did
a great job leading the preparations of our sandwich ingredients and later
setting up our deli serving line, not an easy task.Cudos to Honora.
We
were also fortunate to share this event with the joy filled volunteers from
Wedgwood Presbyterian again.They also brought
donated winter wear and other clothing items to share with our guests.Thank you for joining us.It is always a treat to share this time with
you.
I
wish I knew how to send pictures: pictures of our guests enjoying what we have
prepared: pictures of the small children
reaching up to serve cookies or butter cubes: pictures of volunteers helping
our guests try different jackets seeking the best fit.I would also send the sounds of companionship
in the kitchen where cheese was sliced for New Year or chicken breasts were
pounded for Christmas dinner.I will
send thanks to the many, many people
involved in donating, planning, shopping, cooking, sampling, and serving these
dinners; this adventure that Francois began.
