Friends of Francois Thanksgiving Day 2008

This Thanksgiving was truly special because Francois was able to join us.  This feast lead by Chef Paul McD was prepared by many during this last week, adding love to the dressing and patience in the gravy this morning.  The turkey dinner was complete with dressing, gravy, mashed potatoes, succotash, coleslaw and cranberry sauce.  A beautiful selection of desserts was provided by Neighborhood Cooking Foundation.  I was only able to exercise self-control for one hour, then I had to have a dessert.

We served 128 guests on this not-so-cold day.  Thank you goes to the good Elmer (Operation Sack Lunch) for watching over us at the Outdoor Meal Site.  Our faithful lead server, Honora (her fourth year) got us started.  The joy in our serving line was evident.  Gentle smiles were displayed by our guests and servers while greetings were exchanged as dinner was served.  One of our guests, a young man from Hawaii, was so kind in thanking us for serving outdoors: it meant a great deal to him that we did this.

Check the Honor Partners tab at this site: there are links to other meal providers such as Operation Sack Lunch who do this every day or who do this once a month.  It is an honor to me to share three holidays with them.  Peace to all of you and in all things give thanks.  Linda
