Friends of Francois Holidays 2008/9

Thanksgiving 2008 was truly special because Francois was able to join us.  This feast, lead by Chef Paul McD, was prepared by many during this last week, adding love to the dressing and patience in the gravy this morning.  The turkey dinner was complete with dressing, gravy, mashed potatoes, succotash, coleslaw and cranberry sauce.  A beautiful selection of desserts was provided by Neighborhood Cooking Foundation.  We served 128 guests on this not-so-cold day.  Thank you goes to Operation Sack Lunch for watching over us at the Outdoor Meal Site.

Christmas 2008 was a celebration of life.  Many people of many traditions gathered to share a meal on a very cold, snowy day.  Chef Langan and his staff opened Cafe Amore to prepare and serve this dinner at two locations with just over 100 individuals served at each site.   During the week of Christmas, the snow and ice made transporting anything anywhere quite treacherous.  Several volunteers were able to transport all needed to prepare this special dinner of Chicken Nachatta, roasted red potatoes, blanched green beans with candied walnuts.  Again, Neighborhood Cooking Foundation served an impressive array of desserts.

New Year's Day 2009 was an awesome start to this year with Chef Duncan preparing a ham dinner with polenta, gravy, and green beans mixed with onion and bacon.  An amazing group from Wedgwood Presbyterian joined us for a third year, not only serving this feast to 170, but also distributing clothing they had gathered for this day.  So many to thank: the City of Seattle for providing this site, St. Mark's Cathedral for the free use of their kitchen, and our guests for sharing this day with us.

                                                                         In all things, give thanks!
