Thanksgiving 2006: Wow! It was so cold and wet and windy.  This Thanksgiving we served about 350 guests a traditional meal of turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green salad and brownies.  Ok- brownies are not so traditional.  All of the turkey was donated.  So many volunteers to thank especially the future chef from the culinary school as well as Chef Duncan, our leader this Thanksgiving.  I did meet a gentleman from Honduras.  I don't speak Spanish but we were able to share a conversation of Thanksgiving.  Bags and bags of beautifully knitted hats and scarves were distributed and quite appreciated.

Christmas 2006: Such a beautiful afternoon at City Hall Park!  We served approximately 400 people pizza provided by Operation Sack Lunch and Ziti Pasta prepared by Chef Mina and Sous Chef Bruce.  About a third of our guests were women and we did serve one child.  A young girl on our serving line stood on an apple box while distributing oranges and Christmas greetings.  Andrea and family distributed the gloves they had collected from donors sharing this holiday.

New Year's Day 2007: There was a wealth of volunteers from Hunger Intervention Project to serve a ham dinner on a drizzly, chilly day.  I had the good fortune to meet two Carols.  The first Carol lives near City Hall Park, I believe, and sometimes assists HIP in distributing the lunches they provide three times a week.  The second Carol was quite shy, stood very still and watched all of the activity for two hours.

Easter 2007: We simply did not have the money to provide a large dinner at City Hall Park.  We were able to participate in preparing Sunday dinner for Tent City at St Mark's Cathedral.  All of our future dinners will be served at the new Outdoor Meal Site.  This will allow us to redirect permit and fee costs to food.  Thank You Seattle!
